Documents for HDFC NRI Account

1. Copy of the pages of the NRI customer’s passport that contains all the details of the passport and personal details of NRI customer.

2. Copy of valid visa or work permit to remain in the respective nation as resident Indian.

3. One passport size photograph of NRI Banking customer

4. A valid document confirming either the overseas or Indian address of the NRI customer. The address on the document provided must  match with the address mentioned in the NRE account opening form given by the NRI customer.

5. If the customer of a non-FATF country cannot come to the concerned HDFC Bank branch for opening opeing NRE Saving account all photocopies of the above mentioned documents must be attested by Indian Embassy in the nation.

6. If a customer of a FATF country, cannot come to the concerned HDFC Bank branch for opening opeing NRE Saving account then either all copies of the above mentioned documents can be attested by an Indian Embassy or Notary or by a Banker overseas or else all documents must be self signed and submitted to the HDFC Bank along with one additional document.

Additional document may be

• A cheque drawn on a bank account abroad
• Any cancelled paid cheque in Photocopy drawn on a bank abroad showing the signature, bank name, Account No. etc.
• Photocopy overseas / Indian bank statement not more than 3 months old
• Photocopy utility bill not more than 3 months old
• Photocopy of ID card like valid permanent drivers license, employee ID card, labour card
• Photocopy of local government ID card
• Original Letter from the employer issued for the purpose of opening of this account
• Photocopy of appointment letter issued by the overseas employer for the employment overseas
• Photocopy credit card statement not more than 3 months old
• Photocopy of lease / rental agreement / rent receipt (not more than 3 months old)
• Photocopy of Letter from university abroad (in case of NRI Students)
• Photocopy of Student Id card (in case of NRI Students)
